See an Update's history
Open an Update's History to see who created and sent it, who approved it, and when it was published.
Every Update has a History: a short timeline of who created it, who sent it for review, each approval, and when it went live. It's the quickest way to answer "who approved this, and when?" without asking around.
Before you start: anyone who can see an Update can open its History. There's no extra permission to add.
Open the History
On an Impact Story's list of Updates, select the three dots at the top right of the Update, then select History.
Open the Update and select History at the top of the page.
History opens in a panel beside the Update, so you can keep reading while it's open. The oldest entry is at the top.
The same three-dot menu also has Copy link (a link to the Update's page for your team), Share when the Update has a public link, and Edit when your role can edit Updates.
What History shows
Each entry is one short line with its date and time:
| Entry | What it means |
|---|---|
| Created by | Who started the Update. |
| Sent by, Sent again by | Who sent it for review, and who sent it again later. |
| Edited by | Who changed it. History doesn't say what changed. |
| Changes requested by | Who sent it back to its author for changes. |
| Approved by | Who approved it. |
| Not accepted by | Who decided not to accept it. |
| Restored by, Archived by | Who restored or archived it. |
| Scheduled for | The date it was set to publish. |
| Published, Published on schedule | When it went live: straight away, or on its scheduled date. |
| Photos reviewed by | How many photos someone reviewed, for example "3 photos reviewed by Sam". |
| Deleted by | Its author deleted it from the Storyteller app. It's archived, and your team can restore it. |
| Moved here by, Moved to another update by | How many photos, videos or recordings someone moved onto this Update or off it, for example "2 moved here by Sam". History never names the other Update. |
- Names are your team's. A person who has left your organization shows as Former team member, and a step Givable did for you, such as publishing on schedule, shows as Givable.
- What History leaves out: review notes, the Update's answers and fields, anything about supporters, and consent details. It's a record of who did what, not of what was said.
- An older Update may have fewer entries, because History can only show steps Givable recorded.
On the Update page, the line under the title also says who approved it and when, for example "Approved by Sam on Sep 28, 2026".
In the Storyteller app
Storytellers open History from the three-dot menu at the top right of an Update. It needs a connection: offline, the app shows "Connect to see history". Nothing from History is kept on the phone. See Likes and comments in the app.
