Page layouts

Decide which fields, sections, tabs and lists appear on a record page, and where.

A supporter page, a donation page, a page for an object you invented yourself: you decide what's on it and where. Settings > Objects, pick an object, then Page layouts.

Before you start: editing layouts needs the layout permission, and reaching the Objects area needs permission to manage objects or fields. This is administrator territory.

Why bother

The default layout is a reasonable guess about a general nonprofit. Your team isn't general. If your gift officers need the employer and the last contact date at the top, put them there, and stop asking six people to scroll for it every day.

What you can place

Any field on the object, standard or custom. Each can have a label override, its own help text, be made read only, and be pinned to a particular column.

Build one

Settings > Objects, choose the object, then Page layouts

With no layout yet, Create from default starts you from the built-in one rather than a blank page.

Drag what you need

The palette on the left holds fields, components and layout elements. Drag onto the page, and drag things around to reorder them. Search the palette when an object has a lot of fields.

Set each piece up

Select anything to change its properties: a section's columns, a field's label, a tab's icon and who can see it.

Save a draft

Saving doesn't change what your team sees.

Publish when you're happy

Publish makes that version the live layout for everyone.

Undo works (Ctrl + Z, or Cmd + Z), so experiment. The draft is invisible to everyone until you publish.

Versions, and going back

Every save is a version, listed under the layout's name. A published version can't be edited in place: you create a new version, which means the layout your team is using can't change under them while you're mid-thought.

Opening an old version loads it into the builder without changing what's live, so you can compare before deciding. Reset to default discards your customizations and starts again from Givable's built-in layout.

Which records this affects

A layout applies to that object's detail pages for everyone in your organization. Objects you can lay out include supporters, accounts, leads, donations, payments, pledges, recurring gifts, payouts, funds, campaigns and every custom object you create.

Events are the exception: the event page is designed by Givable and isn't laid out this way.
